This lovely statue of the Virgin Mary is vintage, French and made from terracotta. She is very detailed with a lovely serene face and you can see that she has been well loved over the years. Around her feet are roses and the statue is signed on the back ‘Giscard Toulouse’. The Giscard family is a family of sculptors and manufacturers from Toulouse, They produce architectural ornaments and sculptures, both secular and religious, in terracotta. The company was founded in 1855. The height of this statue of the Virgin Mary is 45cm, the base of the statue measures 10.5 x 10.5cm and she weighs 1370 grms. What a beautiful item from France.
